1. Bitmine Ethereum treasury reaches 6.03 million ETH

Bitmine Immersion Technologies, the Ethereum treasury company chaired by Tom Lee, said on Monday, October 12, that it bought 12,532 ETH over the past week, worth about $31.9 million at the $2,544 price the company uses for its valuation. Total holdings now stand at 6,028,946 ETH, equal to 4.9% of the circulating supply, and Lee says only about 100,000 more coins are needed before buying stops.

The weekly purchase was smaller than the previous week's, when the firm acquired roughly $41 million of the token. Even so, it moved Bitmine to within a sliver of its stated ownership goal, a target the company has branded the "Alchemy of 5%." The announcement came in the company's regular holdings update, which Bitmine issues once a week and which also lays out its other assets and its staking activity.

2. What is an Ethereum treasury company?

An Ethereum treasury company is a listed business that holds ETH on its balance sheet as a core reserve asset and funds its purchases through share sales, preferred stock or other capital raising. Investors buy the shares as a way to gain exposure to the token through a conventional stock account, and the share price tends to follow the value of the coins the company holds.

Ethereum is the blockchain network that hosts most smart contracts, stablecoins and tokenized assets, and ETH is the token used to pay fees and to stake on the network. Because the token can be staked, a treasury company can earn a yield on its holdings, something that a company holding bitcoin cannot do in the same way. That feature is central to how Bitmine describes its model.

The category has drawn attention because a few firms have accumulated meaningful shares of the total supply. At 4.9% of all ETH, Bitmine's holdings are large enough that its weekly buying and eventual pause are watched as market-relevant events.

3. How far is Bitmine from its 5% target?

Bitmine is about 99% of the way to owning 5% of all ETH. The company measures that against a supply of 122.1 million tokens, which puts its current stake at 4.9%. Lee said in the release that no other public company has matched the firm's record of accumulation.

The arithmetic explains why the remaining purchase is small. Five percent of 122.1 million ETH is about 6.1 million tokens, so with 6,028,946 already on the balance sheet, the gap is on the order of the 100,000 ETH that Lee cited. At the weekly pace of the last two updates, that amount could be bought within a handful of weeks, although the company has not published a schedule and the pace of purchases has varied from week to week.

Lee has said in the past that Bitmine will stop buying once it reaches the goal. That makes the coming weeks the final stretch of what has been one of the largest accumulation campaigns by a listed company in any digital asset.

4. What else does Bitmine hold?

Beyond Ethereum, Bitmine reported total crypto, cash and investment holdings of $16.2 billion. The company values its ETH at $2,544 per token, and the balance sheet also includes 214 bitcoin (BTC), $612 million in cash and marketable securities, a $180 million stake in Beast Industries, the company founded by the online creator known as MrBeast, and an $85 million stake in Eightco Holdings.

The Beast Industries and Eightco positions are described by the company as "moonshot" investments. They sit alongside the core Ethereum position rather than replacing it, and they show that Bitmine's strategy extends beyond simply holding the second-largest cryptocurrency by market value.

All of these figures come from Bitmine's own announcement and from statements by its chairman. They have not been independently audited in the material released this week, and the valuation depends on the reference price of $2,544 per ETH that the company selected.

5. How much does Bitmine earn from staking?

Bitmine has staked 5,067,309 ETH, which is about 84% of its total holdings. Lee says the staked coins generate roughly $336 million in annualized staking revenue.

Staking means locking tokens to help validate transactions on the Ethereum network, in return for newly issued ETH and fees. For a treasury company, it turns a passive holding into an income stream, which can help offset operating costs and the cost of capital used to buy the tokens. The $336 million figure is an annualized estimate, meaning it extrapolates current rewards over a full year, and actual income will move with the staking yield and with the price of ETH.

Put in proportion, the staking revenue estimate equals a little over 2% of the $16.2 billion in total holdings the company reported, which gives a sense of how much of the firm's value could in principle be covered by network rewards alone. The comparison is rough, since the total includes cash and investments that do not earn staking income.

Staked coins also carry practical constraints, because they cannot always be sold instantly. That trade-off is one reason investors watch how treasury firms split their holdings between staked and liquid ETH.

6. Why does Tom Lee say Bitmine is nearly done stacking?

Lee said in his monthly video message to shareholders, delivered the week before the latest update, that Bitmine needs "about 100,000 more ETH" and little else. Once the 5% target is met, he said, the firm will be finished accumulating, and he framed that as happening just as a major bull market begins.

His reasoning is that if the price of ETH rises substantially after the buying ends, Bitmine should outperform ETH itself. In his view, the company would then benefit from its staking income, its other holdings and the leverage inherent in a listed equity, rather than merely tracking the token.

The claim is a forecast rather than a certainty. A stock that holds a volatile asset can fall as sharply as it rises, and the company's shares have historically moved in close step with the token.

7. What bull market is Lee predicting?

Lee predicts "the biggest bull market we've ever seen" for crypto. He pointed to four drivers: the tokenization of traditional assets, a generational transfer of wealth to younger investors, the absorption of supply by digital asset treasury firms, and the growing use of crypto wallets by AI agents.

Tokenization refers to issuing representations of stocks, bonds, funds and other assets on a blockchain, and Ethereum is the network most widely used for that purpose. The wealth-transfer argument holds that assets passing from older to younger households will flow toward digital assets. The treasury-company argument is a supply story: coins bought by firms like Bitmine are removed from active trading, which in theory leaves fewer for the market to absorb new demand. The AI-agent thesis suggests that software agents will need native digital money to transact on their own.

These are the chairman's views, offered in a company communication, and they are not shared by every analyst. Investors weighing them should treat them as a bullish case from an interested party rather than a settled outlook.

8. What does ETH at $22,000 mean for the stock?

Bitmine's shares, which were trading near $26, have been about 90% correlated with the price of ETH. Lee projected that if ETH reached $22,000, the stock would be worth between $300 and $500.

At the $2,544 reference price used in the update, a move to $22,000 would be an increase of roughly 8.6 times. The stock range Lee gave implies a gain of about 11 to 19 times from the $26 level, which would be a larger percentage rise than the token itself. That is the outperformance he is describing, and it depends on the strong correlation to ETH holding while the firm's per-share value of holdings expands.

The projection is a statement of potential, not a forecast with a date attached, and Lee did not say when ETH might reach that level. For context, the token was trading at about $2,530 when the announcement was published.

9. What is Bitmine's preferred stock?

Alongside the common shares, Lee drew attention to Bitmine's 9.5% perpetual preferred stock, which trades under the ticker BMNP. The security was issued at $80 in June and last closed at $99.53, according to the company release.

A perpetual preferred stock pays a fixed rate on its issue price and has no maturity date, so its market price reflects both the dividend and perceived credit quality. A close of $99.53 against an $80 issue price means the security trades well above where it was sold, a sign that buyers have been willing to pay a premium for its income.

Preferred shares have become a common funding tool for crypto treasury companies, which use them to raise capital without issuing more common stock. They also add fixed obligations to a balance sheet, a factor that matters if the value of the underlying holdings falls.

10. What happens next for Bitmine?

The next milestone is the 5% ownership mark, roughly 100,000 ETH away. Bitmine is expected to continue its weekly holdings updates, and the next one will show whether the buying pace holds and how close the firm has come to the line.

Readers following the story should watch three things: the size of each weekly purchase, the reported number of staked tokens, and any change in how the company describes its plans once the target is reached. Each of those will indicate whether the accumulation phase is truly ending as Lee describes.

After that, the company has said purchasing will stop, which shifts attention to staking revenue, the performance of its other investments and the price of ETH. Whether Lee's bull-market forecast proves right will determine how the shares fare once the largest buyer of the strategy steps back from the market.
